Safe, passive trapping
We use calm, passive trapping techniques to guide horses away from public roads and into safe holding — protecting both the animals and local motorists without chasing or distressing the herd.
We safely rescue the free-roaming horses of Bluewater Park and the surrounding region, restore their health, and match them with families who will love them for life.
Brumbies frequently wander out of Bluewater Park and onto surrounding roads and properties, putting both the horses and the community at risk. Bluewater Brumbies Inc. exists to bring them to safety, nurse them back to health, and give each horse the calm, dignified future they deserve.
Bluewater Brumbies Inc. is a volunteer-driven animal-welfare charity based near Bluewater Park, north of Townsville. For years, horses have roamed free through the park and onto neighbouring land. Without intervention, many face starvation, dehydration, injury on the roads, or an uncertain fate.
Our members respond to sightings, monitor the herds, and step in when a horse is in trouble. Using patient, low-stress methods, we bring horses into care, provide everything they need to recover, and then find them safe, loving homes.
Every horse follows the same journey with us — from a careful, stress-free rescue to a well-matched forever home. Here is the work your support makes possible.

Each horse receives a full health check, vaccinations, and gelding for males where needed. We cover feed, vet and transport bills so every brumby is healthy and ready for a new home.
We operate a dedicated rehabilitation and recovery location, well away from busy roads, where horses can regain condition, learn to trust people, and prepare for life alongside a family.
We actively seek out interested adoption candidates and match each horse with a suitable, screened home — ensuring the right fit of temperament, experience and environment for a lifelong bond.
“Every brumby we bring into care is a life changed — and a road made a little safer for our community.”
Your gift buys hay, clean water, vaccines and vet treatment. Even a small, one-off donation helps cover the real, everyday cost of keeping a rescued horse healthy.
